An Evening with Miriam Payne
(Atlantic and Pacific Rower)

The Driffield Agricultural Society are delighted to announce that they will be hosting An Evening with Miriam Payne at the Driffield Showground. 

​

Miriam is a British ocean rower and adventurer from East Yorkshire, best know for her record-breaking solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. In 2023, she became the fatest solo female competitor in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing 3,000 miles alone from the Canary Islands to Antigua im under 60 days.

Come and listen to her amazing adventure, she has recently completed.

On the 18th October, together with Jess Rowe, they completed the crossing of rowing across the Pacific Ocean, having previously met racing across the Atlantic.

They traveled from Lima, Peru to Cairns, Australia in 165 days, covering 8213 nautical miles

- 4x world records including the first women's team to row the pacific non-stop and unsupported, and the first pair to to complete the crossing. 

They experienced a lot of problems from having to restart our entire crossing to major power issues but also saw incredible wildlife, sunrises, sunsets and meteor showers

Tickets for the evening are priced at £15 each and there will also be a bar.​​

Proceeds of the evening help to fund transport costs for our Schools Food and Farming Day held in May.
